Apart from being Mum and Wife my other passion is photography, my ever changing children and all the enchanting wilderness that we are surrounded by has inspired me to record as many of those fleeting moments as I can. I want myself, my children, and my children's children to be able to summon back the days long gone and remember not just what it looked like, but what it felt like, so that those foregone moments can be relived again. I use photography as a tool to try and make the mundane moments meaningful and to make the ordinary extraordinary.
You know we're all big kids, so we wondered what your best childhood memory is?
We lived on acreage that backed onto a huge forest and mountain range and I used to spending hours upon hours exploring the caves, climbing the rocks and trees - sometimes I wish I could go back in time for a day or 2!
We love having your 3 gorgeous kids as the faces of Norte! What's the funniest thing they've done lately?
Our little ones have us in stitches all day everyday, its more what they say, Alex said the other day “Wouldn’t it be great if chickens had arms, then they could lay an egg and bring it to us?”. Elise is a little clown as well, she’s been a nightmare to put to bed lately, and she’ll ask for cuddles, only to start squeezing our noses saying ‘honk honk’ - she thinks its hilarious! As for Andreas has his dads dry English sense of humour and wit so he sure keeps us entertained with his commentary during TV shows.
Who do you admire and why?
The person that invented coffee (let's pause for a moment and all thank the coffee gods!)….No, seriously I would have to say my mother. She taught me so much and has instilled in me values that I try to live by each and every day to be a better person. To always choose kindness, to never give up, and to always forgive.
What's your fave gear in the Norte range?
All of them! But if you are going to make me chose just one then I will say the jackets, because they are as good, if not better quality and warmth as high end brands like Kathmandu and MacPac, but at a fraction of the price. They are soft and comfortable without being bulky which means kids actually want to wear them.
As you know, a huge part of our mission at Norte is to be able to support the charities and community causes that are close to our hearts. Any favourite causes you want to give a shout out to?
I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember, and I always try and give support to animal rescues organisations and animal rehab centres. Animal abuse is so rampant, and they are creatures without a voice that often meet such intolerable cruelty. I’ve worked with rescue organisation in the past and we’ve adopted and fostered everything from guinea pigs to horses over the years.
